Omega-3 fatty acids are unsaturated fatty acids that cannot be produced by the human body. The omega-3 fatty acids frequently used in food supplements are EPA and DHA, which are usually obtained from fish. As fish absorb omega-3 fatty acids from algae, it is now also possible to produce vegan omega-3 variants from algae.
