The path to becoming an international contract manufacturer

Biohealth International was founded in 2003 by Rudolf Gebhardt. From the beginnings of production with just one production assistant and dedicated family members, the company has developed into a dynamically growing company with around 220 permanent employees at its site in Münchberg, Bavaria.

Biohealth International has been part of a strategic joint venture with Uelzena eG since 2020. Uelzena eG, headquartered in Uelzen, Lower Saxony, and with four subsidiaries in Germany, is one of the leading providers and innovative problem solvers in food processing and milk refinement. The partnership with Uelzena opens up prospects for sustainable growth and innovative product solutions - with the clear aim of further expanding Biohealth as a leading provider in the private label health market. By mid-2025, Uelzena eG will increase its strategic stake in Biohealth International to 80%, demonstrating the confidence of all shareholders in Biohealth's strategy and potential.

Biohealth International has continuously expanded its production capacities due to its rapidly growing customer base. The site in Münchberg currently covers a total of over 20,000 square meters.

In 2024, BHI Biohealth International has launched another comprehensive investment programme of around EUR 10 million in buildings, facilities and the digitalization of production at the Münchberg site. From mid-2025, we will also be able to cover around 70% of our annual electricity consumption with sustainable energy. To this end, we are investing in a photovoltaic system. With this measure, BHI is assuming its responsibility for a sustainable and liveable environment.
