Nutritional supplements for men’s and women’s health

Whether you identify as male, female or non-binary , nearly everyone has to deal with specific physical problems related to their sexual organs from time to time. How to combat the most common symptoms is the topic of today’s newsletter.

More power – how to boost virility

The desire is there but unfortunately, it’s difficult to maintain an erection. There are many factors that can cause erectile dysfunction. Cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, hormonal or neurological disorders, a spinal cord injury, or even surgery can be physical causes of impotency (erectile dysfunction). Psychological factors such as stress, depression, anxiety or conflicts can also impact sexual performance. You can proactively prevent erectile dysfunction by not smoking, watching your weight, exercising regularly, drinking less alcohol and monitoring your blood pressure and cholesterol. Of course, there are also natural remedies that can help boost virility:

In the past, the ancient Incas used a particular plant to rectify various intimate problems – maca root (Lepidium meyenii). Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is also said to stimulate testosterone production, thereby influencing potency. As a side note, many people use fenugreek to encourage smooth and healthy hair growth. Tribulus terrestris may be another testosterone booster. Some people will already be familiar with this substance, but make sure that it contains at least 90 % saponins because it is the saponins that are attributed with having a stimulating effect, promoting potency. Anyone wishing to improve their circulation and thereby also their sexual performance can include L-arginine in their supplements. This amino acid is said to have properties that can improve vascular circulation and therefore the nutrients supplied to your muscles.

There are also minerals that can help with erectile dysfunction and benefit fertility: For instance, zinc contributes to maintaining normal testosterone levels and the mineral also plays an important role in fertility. Selenium is needed for sperm development.

So that you can receive all the benefits from the essential nutrients we have mentioned, we have combined their potency power into one product concept: Our vegan Maca Plus capsules.

Natural support for prostate function

In its function as a male reproductive organ, the prostate gland produces seminal fluid, a component of semen. As men get older, their prostate can enlarge and cause various prostate symptoms. In Europe, about 90 % of men over 70 have an enlarged prostate, and this enlargement can sometimes develop into prostate cancer. Regular examinations can help to detect this.

Prostate enlargement can often be caused by an unhealthy diet, too little exercise, too much alcohol, smoking and not enough water consumption.Fibre, unsaturated fatty acids and secondary phytochemicals can have a positive impact on the prostate.

Our Pumpkin Seed Plus capsules are filled with useful substances: Pumpkin seed and saw palmetto extract, which are said to have a positive effect on prostate function and its size. The nettle leaf extract in the capsules can support urinary tract function as the herb has a diuretic effect. Vitamin C and zinc contribute to maintaining the normal function of the immune system. In addition, vitamin C protects prostate cells from oxidative stress, thereby preserving the health of the cell tissue. Magnesium completes our product concept and is included because it can help maintain normal muscle function around the prostate region.

The bladder – an efficient organ

The bladder is a hollow organ in the urinary tract of humans and animals. This is where urine is collected and temporarily stored so that it is not constantly released, but is passed in larger amounts from time to time. This release is regulated by the sphincter at the base of the bladder contracting and relaxing.

The fuller the bladder, the more pressing the urge is to empty it. In women, a strong urge to urinate typically occurs when the bladder is holding 250–550 ml. In men, this is normally felt at a greater volume of 350–750 ml. As a maximum, the human bladder can hold between 900 and 1500 ml urine.

If the pelvic floor muscles are too weak or tight, or the bladder is too cold, this can lead to an overactive bladder and bladder problems. The urge to urinate will occur much sooner than would normally be the case. Incontinence (involuntary, uncontrolled urination) can also result. In women in particular, bladder infections are more common than in men because of their significantly shorter urethra.

Strong support for the bladder

The sugar D-mannose is a building block in glycoproteins – components of cell membranes. Your bladder and urinary tract are also lined with a layer of glycoproteins. Several studies indicate a positive effect on bladder health when supplementing with D-mannose.

Magnesium and vitamin D are key nutrients for the muscles of the pelvic floor and bladder, as both help to maintain normal muscle function. Magnesium deficiency can cause muscle cramps. For your bladder muscles this means that you would feel the urge to urinate again within a very short time. According to a study, the increase in bladder problems and urinary infections in winter is caused in part by a lack of vitamin D. Both magnesium and vitamin D contribute to a normal function of the immune system, thereby supporting your bladder health.

Cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) is considered to be a proven remedy to strengthen the bladder. This berry species, originating from North America, is rich in proanthocyanidins. According to several studies, these have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Lavender (Lavandula) and chamomile (Matricaria recutita) are attributed with having an anti-inflammatory effect. What’s more, they can have a relaxing and soothing effect. Other phytochemicals that are recommended in association with bladder health, based on their potentially anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic or oxidative effect, are the herbs rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis), thyme (Thymus vulgaris) and oregano (Origanum vulgare).

Bladder products for women

Our Women’s health blood orange powder and Mannose Plus capsules are specifically tailored to the needs of women.

The vegan Mannose Plus capsules contain the micronutrients magnesium and vitamin D presented earlier, the sugar mannose and a cranberry fruit extract with proanthocyanidins. Both nutrients support the function of the bladder muscles and the bladder’s immune responses.

Our Women’s health blood orange powder has a characteristically tangy, acidic and refreshing taste. This product also contains some of the active ingredients mentioned above, such as D-mannose, vitamin D, lavender and thyme, and it also contains iron. As women regularly lose this mineral due to menstruation, the product is a true all-rounder when it comes to women’s health.

From product to packaging: Everything from one source

In the sector of nutritional supplements and health foods in Germany, product packaging needs to look attractive and encourage people to buy but, above all else, it also needs to meet specific legal labelling requirements in accordance with national food legislation. This doesn’t exclusively relate to the written content. There are also guidelines about which font size needs to be used, for example, or which specific elements of content need to appear together.

At Biohealth, we know that these specifications can represent a certain obstacle for our customers, which is why we offer the services of our own graphics department, which is specialised in designing product packaging for the nutritional supplement market.

Working together, we will find both the right packaging container and produce your label, including printing if required.

Needless to say, you set the pace. We can adapt your pre-existing design to maintain your brand identity or we can give our creativity free reign to develop a design tailored precisely to you and your brand. Of course, we can also create EAN or QR codes and retouch images.

Give us a try for your next product to see how we can help!
