Diet management, FSMP or a balanced diet?
We will enlighten you!
When it comes to special nutritional products for people with special health needs, many terms come up: Diet management, FSMP (Foods for Special Medical Purposes) and balanced diets. But what exactly do these terms mean and how do they differ? We explain and let you know how we can provide you with the best possible support in these areas.
Diet management
Diet management describes the targeted management and control of nutrition in order to achieve specific goals. This can be done in connection with illnesses (e.g. diabetes or coeliac disease) but also to regulate weight in healthy people. Optimally controlled diet management helps to improve quality of life and minimize health risks.
Food for special medical purposes
Food for special medical purposes, balanced diets and FSMP describe the same product category. FSMP is the English term and stands for "Food for Special Medical Purposes". They are approved for special, disease-related nutritional requirements that require a targeted supply of nutrients, for example in the case of metabolic disorders or chronic digestive problems.
